bike stolen-long day
well sometime between 7pm on august 12 and 7am august 13 my bike was stolen from the front of my house
i raced to target to get a schwinn trailways bike (big mistake). i then got a flat with it and had to walk 2.5 miles home, only to discover that the inner tube is an oddball extra long schrader valve type never before seen. i went to the two bike stores in my area, nada, don't carry such tubes.
later thursday my friend gives me a fuji 27 inch 12-speed that is laying in his garage and i pump up the tires and whalla, a new bike for me.
i promptly return the target bike for a refund.
moral of the story, stay away from big box store bikes.

Okay I don't get this. So you bought a Target bought bike, it got a flat so because the store didn't have the exact tube (another one wouldn't fit?) you got a bike from your buddy and it got stolen.
So are you saying that your Fuji got stolen because of the tube on the Schwinn because you bought it from Target? Which is not a big box store, by the way Did you lock it?
???

Glad you got a bike you feel you can use. Hope the bike you lost is not too expensive. I suggest you keep an eye open for a second bike so that yo have a backup bike if this should happend again (or major repairs). Pix?

His bike got stolen so he rushed to target to get a new bike. Had a flat almost at once. Got a bike from a friend and went back to target with the not so god bike. I think.
We learn from this:
Keep a spare bike (if you can) so you do not rush nto a crappy bike phurcase if yours get stolen.

to explain if i did not make myself clear
the target bike has some kind of "aero" design wheel rim that requires that the schrader valve be extra long to stick out of the rim hole of the wheel. the bike does not take conventional schrader valve-length inner tubes, so when i got a flat, i had to hunt down the special length valve stem inner tube of which no bike store carries, and target doesn't carry. so i returned the messed up design of a bicycle to target and feel sorry for the next person that comes along and buys it.
i now have a 12-speed fuji, which my friend gave me.
hope i made myself clear.

I'm still a little confused... which bike got stolen? If all you're doin is *****in about the valve, maybe you should retitle your thread.

I did read every word. In order. And still came away baffled. And wondering if "whalla" is meant to be "voila." And thinking a little meaningful capitalization and punctuation might help, too.

To the OP, sorry to hear your bike got stolen. The one plus about Target, though, is that they let you return the bike. :-)

I don't understand either.
What does the stolen bike have to do with the Target bike?
Or was it that the bike was stolen, so OP went to Target to buy a replacement bike which OP didn't like because it had funny inner tubes, and because it got a flat?

Never rush into anything. It is just a recipe for disappointment.
Did the Target bike got a flat because of the extra long schrader valve or because you caught a nail or glass? That is hardly Target's fault. And since the LBS wasn't equipped with the right products to meet your needs, is it not also part of your frustration? Or is it just easier to blame Target for your woes?
Anyways now that you have a bike. Take your time and research for your next replacement. All the best.

I think it's ridiculous that they sell a bike at Target that takes a non-standard tube. I guess that's what you get when you buy something so cheap.
