Sunscreen and Stained Jerseys
I'm in the South and don't ride without sunscreen. At the beginning of this season I bought a tube of Neutragena 70+, and soon after using it began to notice reddish stains on my jerseys where they contacted treated skin- necklines and arms.
I switched to Coppertone Sport 50 and am seeing the same thing. I've never had this problem before this year. A web search seems to say that the water used for laundry may trigger/increase the staining, and I do use well water with high iron content. So I guess I have three questions- Anybody else having the problem? If so, have you found a way to remove the stains? Can you recommend a sunscreen that will not cause the staining? Thanks for anything you might be able to suggest. |
1. Try soaking and washing with oxyclean. It works wonders.
2. Scrub stains with a soap called ZOTE. It can be found at Target or 99c stores. It is a Mexican wonder soap. 3. Try using La Roche Posay sunscreens. I use them and never have a problem with staining. In fact, the stuff sticks so it can be difficult to remove from the skin. |
one sun screen you may want to try is banana boat dry block.
i haven't had any stains on my clothes as a result. The stuff is kinda neat. It goes on like a normal sun screen, but then it goes dry. It's so when you are at the beach, sand doesn't stick to your skin. I just like how it's non greasy. Perhaps it'll help? maybe. |
