traditional saddlebag fixings
I have an old, but in very good condition, saddlebag - a Carradice canvas bag. It has two straps on the top that fitted through the loops that were on the rear of saddles. Sadly these are no longer on saddles. Does anyone know if there is an adaptor to fit to the saddle that will do the same job? My mate has made one and I've had a few ideas, but I'd happily buy a nicely designed one ! I know there are plastic ones bolt onto the saddle, but these are for a dedicated saddlebag - and I prefer a metal adaptor if possible....

Why not just strap them around the metal bars that secure the saddle to the seatpost?

Thanks for the replies. I liked the Viva loops, but prefer the look of Carradices own clamp arrangement. I must apologise, it just never occurred to me that Carradice were still operating and never attempted to look them up, doh ! Or, to put it another way, I just never thought - as usual.
Thanks again Albert |

I got all my Carradice stuff from Rivendell, www.rivbike.com. They used to have a huge selection and could order almost anything. Not sure they still do, because they're carrying their own stuff now, but they had a really cool adapter with a quick release so you could unhook the bag and carry it with you.
Not cheap, as you already know if you're using Carradice. If you don't see what you want on the Web site, give them a call--they have all kinds of stuff in small quantities they don't always post. EDIT: Took a quick look and found this: http://www.rivbike.com/products/list...product=20-109 But, holy crap, 86 bucks? |
