I was on *FIRE* today!

I went for a ride on lunch, and I was ON. Zooming up hills, riding along in the big ring, zipping along at 30 mph, 32 mph, keeping up with traffic, moving forward almost without effort.

It was awesome!

And then I turned around to head back to work.

And the wind I was apparantly riding upon was suddenly pushing me backwards.

Ah, well, it was fun while it lasted!

Tailwinds are like that. You never notice 'em until you turn around.

But they're fun while they last!

What is this tailwind of which you speak??? If there is wind when I ride, it always seems to be beating me in the face.

The wind always changes at my 1/2 way point... seems like headwinds 100% of the time.

small unoticable inclines are that way too. theres a particular 10mile stretch of bike path near me that runs up a very shallow incline. hardly noticable until you head back. Good thing is, on my trek out, its uphill, coming back is downhill.

There's a stretch on one of my rides that I swear is uphill no matter which direction I take it.

That's because the wind changes every time you ride it.

Seems my ride home in the afternoon is always faster than my way to work. Equal amount of hills both directions. Something about the destination?

I love those kinds of rides! They are truly amazingly fun. I know exactly how they feel. I often felt like that on my morning commutes into work. The rides home were never like that though.

There always seems to be a headwind when I'm riding uphill - in the snow.
