what are the pros and cons vs. a normal mirror? I can't trust these Nebraska drivers...

I have one of the helmet-mount models from CycleAware. Stays put and folds up and out of the way easily.

On each bike I use this Aspire Velotech Italian mirror than attaches to the drops on the road bar

A quick lean and glance shows the road behind, and is almost invisible

I use a third eye helmet mirror, If your assuming any kind of areo position a helmet or eye glass mount is a must have. Your body will move past your bar mounts

I have the cycleaware reflex. I didn't think I'd care about the ability to flip it up out of the way, but it's great for avoiding hitting the mirror with snot rockets.

I'm using the Take-A-Look model. Works on either my helmet (for rides where this is needed) or on my glasses (for rides where it's not). Also folds flat which is nice when packing it for use on trips.

I have the Third Eye helmet mirror for my favorite helmet. On my other helmet, I also use a helmet mirror not sure of the brand but works great for me. I prefer helmet mounted vs. handle bar mounted.

I've used CycleAware Reflex for ~5 years. Although the last two adhesive pads stopped sticking after 3 months. You can buy replacement sticky pads rather than buy a new mirror.
Are they having quality control problem?

Between Blackburn, Third Eye, and Bell helmet mirrors, I've liked the view that I get from the Third Eye best.

The Bell mirror is an accessory that clips into the visor on Metro or Citi helmets, so it's not universal.

Definite preference for "Take A look "style mirrors. Slight turn of the head and you quickly get a 180 look.. Also, seems more stable . less vibration . than handlebar mirrors, with which it is impossible to get a 180 degree view without falling down.

Pros:
If you've got multiple bikes, the same mirror is always with you.
Less vibration, as long as you're properly wearing your helmet. Your body serves as the suspension for your head.
You can get a great view of everything behind you by moving your head just a bit.
You look like a "serious cyclist".

Cons:
You need to be a little more careful about how you set down the helmet. A mirror that easily pivots can be tucked away for protection, but you need to swing it back out to use it.
You have to be wearing a helmet to use one (not an issue for most, but it would be for some). Eyeglass mirrors are an alternative, but for me, I can't focus on a mirror that's too close to my face, and I don't want the extra weight on my glasses.
You look like a "Fred".

I've tried the Third Eye as well as the Take A Look helmet mounts, of the two I prefer the Take A Look.
However as BarracksSi said it is also hard for me to get used to focusing on a helmet mounted mirror, so I prefer a good handle bar mounted mirror.

I generally just look over my shoulder. I used a bell helmet mount years ago and didn't care for the constant distractions. just my opinion

This is a great product. I have one on both sides as I travel with my bike to countries that are both left and right hand drive.

I have a Third-Eye visor-mount helmet mirror. It's really great being able to see the positions of approaching cars with a quick glance up and to the left. Of all the accessories and upgrades I've purchased for my bike, my helmet mirror is by far my favourite. It gave me the confidence I needed to ride in traffic.

I like the Third Eye better than the Blackburn. A lot of people really like the "Take a Look" mirror but I haven't tried since it's designed for mounting on glasses (they have since started making an adapter for helmets)

p.s. I looked at the Italian bike mirror - cool design and I may get it as a backup, but have to really take issue with their criticisms of helmet mounts - there is NO blind spot since you sweep your head - you can't sweep your head as much with the handlebar mounted mirrors. I haven't tried the IBM but it's quite small - the issue I had with handlbar mounted mirrors was I didn't get as much of a field of vision with it even when it was up high and 3" diameter. I can't imagine a 1" diameter mounted another 8" away from my head is going to be better unless it's a really fisheye view - which then creates the problem that everything is super small.

Ah, I've been keeping an eye out locally for the "velcro"-mount Third Eye. Is its arm shorter than their Pro hard-mount version?

I got another Pro for an S-Works helmet, but I couldn't get the mount to stick very well due to the shell's curvature and the huge vents that didn't leave much shell remaining. I'm hesitant to try another Blackburn on it for the same reasons even though its mount needs much less space.

Retro Grouch 

I've got a helmet morror on one of my helmets but my favorite is a "Take-a-Look" eyeglass mirror. I like it because I can move my head to focus the mirror wherever I need to see. Several experienced people that I ride with also use Take-a-Looks so I think that's a pretty good recommendation.

I use the Take a Look mirror, I am very happy with it. I have it mounted on the visor of my Tourlite helmet instead of on my glasses.
