WWJWD (What would John Wayne do?) my fellow Longhorn?

No, it isn't free, but this is one of the reasons we have homeowner's insurance. So that if WE screw up, we don't end up financially ruined.

And, sorry, I don't base my life on silver screen cowpokes, Mr. Longhorn. :)

OP, I must say I'm impressed with your attitude during/after the attack. I'm afraid my anger would have got the best of me. I'm glad you got everything settled, and I applaud your restraint against the homeowner.

I've been chased by more dogs in the last 3 weeks than in the last 2 years combined. I guess because I'm heading on new routes. The other day, I had two dogs chasing ... fortunately, they didn't want to come out into the 55mph road to pursue. I couldn't imagine having to fend them off with cars coming up behind at those speeds. It scared the crap out of me. As much as people discuss deterrence methods on here, I don't know if I would have the ability to respond effectively in the heat of the moment.

Get yourself a shrill boat horn ASAP and mount it on your handlebars. It stops a dog in full chase mode and you don't have to aim it or break your sprint:love:.

Well, at first I was too shocked to do much else. Then when the homeowner was so helpfull that calmed me down.

WOW!! I had a broken mirror fall on my foot and I thought I had it bad b/c I haven't ridden my bike in 2 months. But after reading that and seeing the pictures I have nothing to complain about once-so-ever. You have now prompted me to get some pepper spray just in case there may be a crazy dog or some animal with rabies out there wanting a piece of my flesh. Thanks for the post, its a wake up call for everyone thinking everyday will be the same as the last.
