Shimano Components Question
Hi, I just got the details on a 2005 bike I am looking for, the Nirvana from Gary Fisher. It has:
frame Silver Series aluminum hybrid
wheels Alloy QR front hub w/ Shimano RM60 rear hub | WTB Dual Duty rims | Mythos XC 700x42c tires
componentry Shimano Deore rear derailleur + Alivio shifters + C102 front derailleur | Shimano T303 48/38/28 crank w/chainguard | Shimano M420 V brakes w/alloy levers | Alloy ATB pedals
sizes SM (15") | MD (17.5") | LG (20") | XL (22.5") | Stepthrough SM (15") | Stepthrough MD (17") | Stepthrough LG (20")
color(s) Metallic Red + Metallic Light Silver
The 2004 has:
Frame Silver Series hybrid aluminum | Women’s stepthrough available
Wheels Alex ACE 19 aluminum rims | Shimano C201 rear hub | Bontrager Select Invert Hardcase tires
Suspension RockShox GPS Metro adjustable | 60mm travel
Componentry Shimano Deore rear derailleur + Alivio shifters + T301 front derailleur | Shimano T303 48/38/28 crank w/chainguard | ProMax forged linear pull brakes w/power modulator | Alloy/nylon ATB pedals | (Full Specs)
MSRP $469.99
Sizes SM (15") | MD (17.5") | LG (20") | XL (22.5") | XXL (25") | Stepthrough SM (15") | Stepthrough MD (17.5") | Stepthrough LG (20") | (Sizing)
Color(s) Black + Ball Burnished
My question is: Which front deraileur is better, also which rims and rear hubs is better, also which tires are better. I can't decide which model to get, but would like to get the one with the better components.
Thanks for your help.
Pablo

I think the T301 derailleur is the higher quality f/d. IMO as long as your not racing the front derailleur only has to work, no need for a high quality f/d.
hubs/rims, sorry no idea.
As for the tires, I ride Mythos XC 2.1's on my mtb and I like them alot. I don't get very many flats, they grip well on the hardpack/loose/rocky dirt I ride in and they are pretty light. Only problem is that they wear fairly quickly.
