Nope -- no SO. Twice divorced, and no 'feelers' out for a third.

The 'significant PERSON' in my life, my 12-y-o daughter, is almost as nuts about bikes as I am. She got offended the other day when I told her I was going to teach her how to drive correctly -- we'd just watched a neighbor almost get her mini-van stuck in 2 inches of slush and mud -- telling me, "Maybe I won't WANT a car, maybe I'll have a bike!" I told her if that was the case, she could get a sweet ride for her 16th, that seemed to settle her.

If I do 'acquire' another SO, she'll know coming in that I ride, obsessively so, and better be good with it if she wants to stick around. I'm quick to tell anybody -- you look at me and don't like what you see, there's three other directions you can turn.

I only say that tongue in cheek... I am pretty lucky to have such a wonderful partner.

Sig..nificant...Other? I'm not sure I follow.

On that note, I share my bedroom with one of my bikes, and my dog. Simple is sometimes better. My ex of 3 years never rode, and balked when I suggested we ride (or walk) to the corner store (3 blocks) instead of driving. I'm glad I'm single.

My significant other is into riding her bike for utility. Its hard to get her to go out on a weekend ride with me - but on a ride to the store, she's all for it.

I love her bike and wish it was mine.

Nope, I taught her to ride a bike and she would ride if we lived out of the city. However she isn't confident enough to go on the roads. She always thinks I'm going to get killed by my cycle commuting but hey! She doesn't stop me from doing it.

I was talking to Mike, the mechanic at the LBS, and he said his wife doesn't ride at all.

Go figure.

Lois and I can only be described as weekend warriors, although I use my bike virtually everyday for errends, etc.

Lois stood on one of the mile markers on Marriots Way; our favourite local ride.

NO, DAM IT! She's related to No1Mad's wife, I think their sisters! Although she was all "into it" before we got married and wanted to tour, ride and race so I bought her a bike she wanted, she rode it a grand total distance of 2 miles in 30 years!

Well, I don't really live in a boring place if all you want to do is hike, backpack, cycle or xc ski. But it is so rural, a lot of the people are on a different wavelength. Not bad people, but they just seem boring to me. However, it is partly my fault, because there ARE local cyclists, both mtb and road, both women and men, who also, importantly, are not "from here" and so I just need to network more. I truly live in an awesome part of the country. 90 miles from the nearest freeway onramp. 200 miles from the nearest mall. You can ride 30 miles of singletrack without seeing a single other person, just a lot of elk. In a valley at 7,000 feet elevation, with 10,000 foot mountains all around. Right now I am up to my ears in snow and doing lots of xc skiing. Yes, this is Arizona!

Nope. My wife and I have all kinds of activities that we enjoy together, but she doesn't have an interest in cycling. But that works out fine; I get some "me" time on the bike, and she has a couple of hobbies that she pursues as a solo activity. I think it's healthy for a relationship to have a mix of common and individual interests.

I wish I could get my daughter interested in cycling though, I'd love to spend some quality time out on a ride with her while she's still my little girl....at least chronologically, because she'll always be daddy's little girl.

My girlfriend actually got a nice Trek as a gift, so I started riding my mtn bike with her. Kind of liked it, and sold my car and got a Raleigh when we moved. Now I'm the only one who rides much.

Nope She can ride her MTB leisurely around the park for 15-30 minutes in a nice weather, that's about all. She doesn't "get" road bikes either. I'll make more effort this Spring to get her into longer riding by redoing her MTB with smooth tires and a rack. We'll see. She has no problems with my biking addiction though, she's supportive, she knows it's important to my mental and physical well being.

My wife is very supportive and always gets me bike stuff for Christmas and my birthday! Gotta love her!

She will take short rides with me during the warmer months on weekend recreational rides.

My wife enjoy's bicycle riding with me, CAUSE, I've learned to put HER in front, she decides the route, pace, ect. when we ride together and it works great. Yep, she's quite a bit slower than me but I just "spin" a bit more and enjoy the company!

Its great that a bunch of you have partners that are into biking. I have been single for a few months and my GF of 6 years was not into biking other then 95 degree days and would only stay on the flats. Going no faster then 10mph (down hill) and never going for more then 5 miles total in a day. The girls I'm talking to now a days are very much into bikes. I can't be with girl that doesn't at least enjoy a nice, proper bike ride. I love girls that ride bikes, rock climb and do yoga.

I love living in Portland Oregon!!!

I wish I could get my husband out on the bike, but no luck.

Heck, at this point, I would just like him to stop introducing me to his friends as "my wife, who's 35 and still rides her bike to school".

Luckily, my wife is into biking. She thought I was crazy when I told her I wanted to get into the sport, but after she got a bike she got as hooked as I was.
