Please recommend a comfortable x-large backpack
I'm looking for a an extra-large backpack that is relatively comfortable.
Size between 3000-4000 cubic inches, around 30"x10"x10.
Something that I can use to haul a weekend work of stuff and easily take away with me from my bike. Panniers and other bike mounted bags won't cut it, since I need to easily take my stuff away from my bike.
Thanks

why would you look for an answer to that here instead of going to an outdoor store and trying packs on? If there's an REI, Cabela's, Scheel's or even a small backpacking store near you, you could try on a dozen packs in five minutes.

A friend of mine has a huge backpack that he uses on his bike, I think it's intended for long hiking
trips. It has a really big belt-style attachment to carry the weight on the hips mostly. I don't know what the brand is.
Checking out an outdoor store sounds like a good idea.

Just a word of caution. A large pack will push in on your lower back and force your pelvic area forward and that can make whatever saddle you now ride seem less than perfect.

Velo, for the same reasons that some people are bringing up on this thead.
A bag that feels comfortable in a store is going to behave far differently when sitting on my back on a moving bike.

There are some comfortable working style double shoulder strap messenger bags out there. They put the load higher up on your back. I wouldn't wear a waist belt.

My son used a Deuter back pack that maintained an airspace between the load and the back. He now uses a similar one by Vaud. Check them out in an outfitters store. Trunk bags and handle bar bags are also easy to carry with you away from the bike.

Consider a large alpine pack, like those used by ski-mountaineers as they are designed with regard to high speed movement. In Canada, the place to go would be MEC....so if you are in the USA, I would guess the nearest equivalent would be be REI.

It's not as big as you posted, but its good for everyday hauling. Comes with hydration too. Almost half off...its a damn good deal at that price. Padded all over, thick straps, waist and chest strap too.
