Riding makes me happier...thoughts?
I'm a busy person. I'm working in Special Education, taking two grad school classes towards my M.Ed, and up until Saturday I was studying for the MTELs. Plus I work Friday nights at the Y and an active Freemason. Most people would look at what I do in a given week and say that I must be a stress cadet.
However, as long as I get on my bike at least once or twice a week, I am in an excellent mood. Some friends and coworkers of mine say that I am always smiling and energetic.
I think its because of getting on my bike. I work out my problems on the bike. That's where I can really reflect on everything and work through the tough stuff I encounter. Even just a couple miles can really do wonders!
Does anyone else agree or disagree with that sentiment?

I know for me it is a release. We had a nice day here at college, so I went out and road around the parking lot for about an hour. It felt so good!!!

I think that there may be some truth in that statement but if you are that stress free then you aren't a natural worrier, and probably organized. Also if that is your normal pace then thats normal. It may look like a lot to other people but its normal for you.

I've worked for friggin' Wal-Mart for 15 years; I NEED stress relief!
I'm honestly convinced I haven't gone postal on that company because I ride, and have for the last decade. The ONE true positive I'll say for them is that the management has let me bring the bike in the building all that time.

I'd be pretty stressed if I could only ride once or twice a week.

yeah riding a bike lets me think better
i also associate bike riding with good weather in the spring summer and fall
i like getting to a destination under my own power, it is a feeling of accomplishment
there are alot of positives to biking.
also when the bike breaks down there is no humongus bill for repair, like with a car. that really keeps me from stressing out.
it also helps me stretch out the longivtivity of my car, by using my bike for commuting around. for short runs to the stores and stuff it just seems too silly to use a car.

Also, some people thrive on being busy and always having lots to do, so it could just be your personality.
Not that you shouldn't keep biking, of course.

I find that riding has a meditative quality to it. The Zen Mind, No-Mind aspect that is desired by many. There is little conscious thought required when you're not racing or competing that is very soothing. You're connected to your environment and peripherially aware of all the myriad of sights, smells, textures that surround us.
If it weren't for cycling, my mind would be a jumbled mess of over loaded inputs.

Could not agree more.. But, I need the bike as my fix more like 4 times a week . Much less and the lack of cycling makes me grumpy.

Paragraph three of the Bupa section on Health Benefits of Cycling covers. It also gives the gents a good reason to get their ladies on a bike too
https://www.bupa.co.uk/health_informa...ng_health.html
I'm absolutely positive that my head is better when I cycle and it is one of the reasons I cycle and exercise on a daily basis

I don't know, my morning commute usually puts me in a worse mood, but it's balanced by the evening commute that puts me in a better one.

Oddly, cycling is both relaxing and gives you a high from the adrenalin and endorphin boost. Plus the oxygen boost to the brain and all is good.

Riding gives me energy for the day and the solitude of riding is very relaxing. I wish I could ride everyday but there are always other things that takes priority that need more attention.
