Dirt Jumping
 

Hey. I am looking for a few tips to dirt jumping. I go nearly every day with my friends. The jumps are pretty small (maybe 3-4 feet tall w/ 5-6 foot gap). We are going to make them ALOT bigger pretty oon, though. Any tips? Thanks.

BTW, I have a Norco Sasquatch if it helps.

Or, the BMX forum, since dirt jumping was originally an outgrowth of bicycle motocross, and is still alive and quite well on 20" wheels.

+1 on the helmet. Do yourself a favor, and get one with a hard outer shell. Park/skate style helmets are well suited to dirt jumping. The typical road/mtb helmet isn't designed to take the kind of high energy impact you're likely to receive jumping.

Oh, and learn emergency first aid

Yup, learn first aid. If you up the height of the jump you probably square the consequences... consider why you are doing that and if there is a going to be a risk that isn't worth it.

Buy a lot of protective gear, full face helmet, chest and spine protector.. maybe even a leatt. Sure the guys in the videos aren't wearing that stuff.. but you would be an idiot not to wear it while you are training.

Make sure your folks have good insurance.
