Visions of Cycling by Graham Watson

I just picked up Visions of Cycling by Graham Watson. It is a hard cover glossy page coffee table style book. It has beautiful race photos. Graham Watson is one of the world's top cycling photogaphers. He offers the reader a awesome perspective on world class cycling through his lenses. All the photos are great to stare at... page 53 a black and white head shot photo of Paul Sherwen taken after the 1983 Paris-Roubaix...page 94 Greg Lemond racing on a "Huffy" yes a Huffy. There are other photos with Huffy made in America race bikes including Andy Hampsten in 1988 and a Davis Phinney crash in the 1988 Liege-Bastogne-Liege also in 1988...I guess my question is I thought Huffy is bottom of the line entry level buy me at wallmart bicycle?? The best part about this book is I got it for $10 used from amazon.com book store price is $35.

I have Watson's book "20 Years of Cycling Photography". Definitely, it's on my coffee table, and it really does inspire me to capture cycling to the best of my abilities when I'm at the races! He takes some beautiful pictures.

Ooops, as a P.S. I met Greg LeMond and brought my Watson book with me. I asked him to pick a photo of him that Watson did and autograph that page. He thumbed through it for a minute, then picked the photo, talking about that particular photo- he remembered it like it was yesterday, he said.

Huffy did some special projects and at one point had Mike Melton who I think worked for Raleigh at the time design track bikes for the 1984 Olympics. Also, Ben Serotta produced frames for Huffy that were then used by the old 7-Eleven cycling squad. I think Huffy has continued to throw their name on high quality frames used in competition track cycling since. Weren't the US national bikes during Seoul also Huffy branded? My guess is that it's farmed out production with Huffy just supplying the financial backing but not the actual manufacturing.

I also have 20 years of Cycling Photography. Where did you meet Greg Lemond? Did you carefully cut out the signed photo and frame it?

God no! I would never cut it out! But he signed a huge 20"X30" poster of himself at the 1989 World Championships. He even wrote a nice personal note on it, so there's no need to go Conan the Barbarian on my book!

I met Greg at Marshall Field's in Chicago. He was signing autographs at a special appearance for the opening of their new yuppie bike store.
