"Look what I can do!"
Those were the words of my 6 year old son taking off with out training weels! He did wonderful. He is so happy. If he feels like he is going to fall he corrects himself automaticly or put the foot down that is needed to keep himself up. He's a natural! Yeay! He is riding a hand me down now, but we are going to find him a new bike as a reward.
I just wanted to say how proud of my son we are. :D |
Sweet! He definitely needs a new bike now :D
|
Well we got his new bike, it is "Spider Man" LOL he is loving it.
|
nice! I remember those days fondly! just give him $20 as a reward ... there's a good used bike out there with his name on it ... RECYCLE! :-)
|
Oh he must feel so proud!! Congrats to him! :thumb::thumb::thumb:

It's a deep joy, isn't it? Yay for another rider!

That moment is a lifetime classic. I remember mine at that same age, nearly 50 years ago, and it still makes me smile.

Today a lunchtime my grandson was excited to go bike riding in the park as his dad just removed the training wheels yesterday. We rode 2 miles with some stretches at 7 MPH. Now, my grandson is just 3 years and 6 weeks old. He wants toe-clips on his bike, just like gramp's.

You guys are really making me regret never having a bike as a kid. :(
|
Very nice. I'm lucky enough to have filmed my son's first ride without training wheels.
|
I remember when I was a kid, I had some training wheels on for the first time at like 4-5 years old at max, and when I went in the street with them on, some teens laughed at me because I had training wheels...
I went back home and asked my dad to take them off. And that's how I first started riding without the training wheels. |
My mother used to have a picture of my grandfather trying to show me how to ride my first bicycle, Little old man on a small kids bike, his knees almost hitting his chin and his legs being bowed outward, Hilarious picture. Thank you for bringing it back to mind.
Congrats to your son. Ride safe |
Congratulations. Another cyclist is born. Time to read Curious George Rides a Bike.

The big scratch on his face is because his big cousin was swinging a practice baseball on a string and he walked into the string. I hate those Crocs, but his Aunt works for Crocs and is always sending shoes from the outlet store. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=149650 |
No kidding that it's a clear moment. I could draw (well, if I could draw well) exactly what it looked like from my seat when my dad told me to look up and just ride straight.

Good for you son. I rode past a boy who looked like he was out for his ride ride on his first bike a few years ago, and he looked like he was loving it while Dad struggled to keep moving. It was pretty cool.

too cool man. enjoy

Finnaly I figured out how to put his video online here. And that Spiderman bike we got him, we had to return to wally world. The rim was bent to where we could not adjust the breaks right. We ended up going to Toys R Us. It fits him better and him and his dad got to put it togeather with eachother. I will look for that book at the lybrary. Congrats Grandma and Grandpa! Have a great Day!!!
