Please advise!!!
Hello,
This is my first post here and hopefully I will be getting into this wonderful and healthy hobby of cycling, and this wont be my last post :)! I am looking for an entry level bike, I used to mountain bike a lot but my 900 dollar mtb got stolen, and being home from college and looking for a job means I have little money to spend on a replacement. I decided to go the path of road bikes. I have absolutely no knowledge of components etc, and stumbled upon this bike. http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/n...732784634.html It seems to be rebuilt or restored by some sort of a mechanic, hopefully I can get it down to 300. Do you think this is a good bike and worth the 300 bucks? that is pretty much my max price right now. If not, please tell me why this bike is not a good idea/not at a fair price. I really do appreciate any feedback or help. My email is carlosbarbery@gmail.com. I would also appreciate it, if this bike is not worth it, if you all could scan through the D.C craigslist selection of road bikes and advise me on good purchases, below 300. Im 6ft 3 and weigh 200 lbs. Thank you! |
YO!!!
That bike is on eBay for 50 bucks. http://cgi.ebay.com/Custom-Built-60c...item1c12692c0b I'd hit it. |

Weird, great find. The guy said that his add on c-list already got 10 replies or whatever and that it was going to sell fast. Its the same exact bike being sold by the same exact guy. Should i buy it for 325, is that what you are saying?
Hit it as hard, as you would hit Britney Spears after pulling her at the bar. |
But at $325 (or $300), it's still a fair deal, I think. Go check it out. If you like it, and if it fits you, then it probably wouldn't be a mistake to buy it for $300, unless you're willing to take a chance on losing it for the sake of possibly saving $50 (or whatever).

a 60cm frame may be on the verge of too small for you. I'm about your height and ride a 64 or 65. You won't ever be happy on a bike that doesn't fit.

I would wait & see what it fetches for on eBay, then snipe/hit it in the very last seconds.

Hedge your bets.
The OP is actually the seller?. |

Im 6ft 3 and weigh 200 lbs. Thank you! The bike appears to be gone from Craigslist. So here are two pieces of advice: 1. Next time you post something, please take some time to figure out an informative title for your thread. "Please advise!!!" does not encourage anyone to investigate the thread. A more useful title may have been "Help Me Decide about this Cannondale" or something along those lines. Tell us what to expect and how we can help, don't just ask for help. 2. Please post some of the content from any Craigslist ad. The ads disappear soon but these threads can live for years. The thread may help someone else someday with a similar problem, but it will be useless if the future readers have no idea what bike you are talking about, its condition, age or location or any of that. |
