Allen Bicycle Rack question

I have a Allen 2-bike trunk mount rack that I really like. I only have one bike, so have never used it for 2 bikes at one time.

I might be needing to put a second bike on the rack (son may want to go with me to ride), and I was wondering what keeps the lower part of the bikes from banging into each other as one drives? Looks like they would "swing" to some degree and do damage.

Would a bungee-cord be advisable?

Yep, a bungee cord or velcro straps or toe straps will work. Foam pipe insulation can be very handy, too. Secure them together with foam between them in a couple of places.
