Touring New Orleans This Weekend

Me and a buddy have to get out of town for a few days and are heading to New Orleans with a pair of bikes in tow.

Any suggestions/routes and/or resources for wandering around the city a bit? It's been YEARS since I've wandered around down there and I'm practically a tourist again at this point. HE, however, has never been before.

Thanks!

basically follow the trolley paths for a nice tour of N.O. Also, on bike you can see the entire french quarter in a really short time. One thing about N.O. though is it can get shifty just one street over. Be careful where you ride and don't cross the bridge. The huge oak trees while beautiful tear the asphalt up so expect rough riding in areas. Resist the urge to get drunk in the quarter and ride :)

You can ride the river levee on a asphalt MUP from Audubon Park (Uptown) to Desrehan and back for 50 miles round trip, lots of activity on the river. Go across the Causeway to the north shore and ride the rails to trail from Abita to Slidell on a nice asphalt path through the woods about 50 miles rt also. There is even a drawbridge across water ON the bike path manned and all!!
