I want to put a rack on my bike for commuting because the weather is heating up and I can't stand the backpack and being drenched in sweat by the time I get to work anymore. I got a basic rack (Planet Bike Eco rack) as it was on sale and light weight. The problem I am having is the eyelets on the seat stays are rather low and when I put the bolt in there is no clearance for the chain on the smallest cassette ring. I tried it both with the bolt head on the inside and the nut on the inside, both ways do not work. Anyone have any ideas or similar problems. I have a 10 speed cassette which I am beginning to fear is my problem.

The eyelet should be threaded, and the bolt should screw into the eyelet without needing a nut.

It is threaded. Can i just put a bunch of washers on the outside and then loctite? I was worried about it falling out without the nut.

It'll be fine. Just make sure it's snug, and check it periodically. Don't overtighten it, though (just like anything else). If you want to Loctite it to the frame, go ahead.

Thanks. Worked fine putting it on the way you said, just a little bending of the rack and it was on fine. Feels like it should stay fine without loctite. Thanks again for the help, I was just looking at it all wrong.
