Overheard an ....odd conversation in the bike shop.

So the other day I headed into one of the two LBS in my area and I'm browsing around the Road bikes, checking stuff out, and I see two guys standing in the showroom talking. I didn't really think to much of it at the time because the one guy was a store employee, I'd say in his 50's and the other guy looked about mid 30's, but I really didn't take notice to either of them. So I start up a conversation with another employee and he gives me a run down of what they have and leaves me to browse. So I'm standing there and the next thing I hear is "You know what you really need to do before you ride is smoke up big time. I mean get a really good high going before you head out because it takes all the fear out of you, man." So I immediately look over and I realize that the 30's guy is a dude that frequents the other LBS in my town. In fact, he's been over at the other store saying some of the same stuff and talking crap about the store he's currently in. So about that time he realizes that I'm standing there, even though I'm acting like I didn't hear anything and then he's all like "Oh yeah so I need a new Bontrager wheel for my 29er, cause I love their stuff." and trys to play it off. So I wander a little further away and then he goes back into the "Smoke" talk. The clerk looked kind of uncomfortable and kept saying "Uh, I dunno about all that."

Doesn't that seem like a weird thought/conversation to be having regarding biking in a shop? I mean I could give a crap less what other people do, but it just struck me as odd.

Hangs out at bike shops all day because he's unemployed. Probably because he smokes so much..... Someone you'd really want to take advice from I'm sure.

I find it odd that a guy that old still has to brag about his drug habit. I mean, I don't CARE, but shouldn't he have outgrown that by now?

I haven't heard of anything that grows as fast. It's a miracle plant.

I've ridden with people who toked before a big MTB descent.
It was quite noticeable how much slower they were afterwards.
Though it felt to them like they were going warp speed. Wheeeee!

What's wrong with that??? It actually gives them more time on the bike. Now that I'm going faster and faster on my road bike, my usual loop takes me about 2 hours and 15 mins. instead of 2 and 45 mins. initially. That's like 30 minutes more of my regular life. Gotta slow down a bit.
