Need help choosing a new bike
I currently have a communter/mountain bike hybrid, and I'm looking at getting something that's lighter and faster for getting around town and riding to work.
I'm looking for something that I have the option of mounting panniers/saddlebags too, and that is reasonably comfortable for long rides (I'm thinking of trying some light touring).
I'm thinking of this one: The MEC Nineteen Seventy-One
Any suggestions for what I should keep in mind/ look for / alternatives?
I'm also on a budget, and hoping to stay under $1000 CAD if possible.
Thanks everyone!

seems like what you want is some kind of touring bike. all i can say is to visit your local friendly bike store and test ride what they have in the way of touring bikes.
bikes are like shoes you really shouldn't be ordering a serious bike that you will spend alot of time in the saddle on without trying it out first hand.

I was going to head down to the Mountain Equipment Co-op store to test this out. Then I found out that it isn't stocked in the city.
I'll be checking out the LBS shortly for touring bikes. Does anyone have a suggestion on brand, or is it just a matter of what is most comfortable?
