if that was me, I usually jsut nod to the other person...If I'm riding, I'm usualyl pushing myself, often very hard, and I'm sometimes a wee bit too tired to say much of anyhting.

Sometimes my nods don't get recognized, but teh intent was still there.

Dusk. I really blew this thread..You point out, just when I thought something frivilious , it had merit.
I just find silly those who condemn those who are really uncomfortable after they have tried something and really don't like it; and those who are so tied to convention, they won't try something that has merit.
So many of us are tied to what others think..Not me, my family advice going back two generations..Don't worry what others think of you, they are too busy worrying what others think of them..And if they are bullies to hell with them.
LOL....Sorry to add some logic to the Thread.... Let me regress….. if you don't keep you Helmet and eye glass frame color coordinated then you really don’t deserver to ride…..LOL and remember never match the Helmet to the bike! The Helmet always match the kit… so you may need several helmets! (All in fun)

Cheers

Dusk..Darn..To think I wear my blue sunglass' frames with my green jersey.. Should wear them with my yellow jersey since that would co-ordinate with Univ. of Mich. colors.
My bike is Ivory/white. My helmet yellow. Lost cause I am . Maybe a black or silver helmet on a white frame?

As I was riding today, I hit upon my own very personal definition of a "poseur". A poseur is any guy who has shaved legs that I can pass on a hill. This definition may not work for others, but I am NOT fast on hills ;-)

For a complete change of topic from snobbery, but still retaining the silliness element, can someone please explain to me why some people will spend the money on purchasing a helmet, not to wear it, but to just tie it to their handlebars? This to me is the height of cycling stupidity. If you're going to spend the money on something, why not at least use it? If you don't want to wear a helmet, why buy one in the first place?

This summer it got hot and humid as hell around here. I was on a straightaway (I'm in the country so there is only about 1 car every 30mins) and I took off my helmet to air myself out a little. I had it off for no more than 2 minutes and a guy riding in the opposite direction taps his head and says 'helmet'. After squeezing all the sweat out, I put it back on.

I always wear my helmet so I kind of just laughed it off but now I realize that guy is probably telling other riders how stupid I am for buying a helmet and not wearing it

That's right kids, when you assume you make an ass out of u and me.

Also, not everyone shaves their legs for the speed enhancement, because that enhancement is pretty minimal unless you are racing in the Tour de France heh, most from what I gather do it for falls. If you haven't fallen yet and scraped up your hairy legs then wait until you do, you'll probably find if you had shaven legs clean up would have been a lot easier.

It ain't so much that I'm against proper cycling clothes - I'm just not paying more for a shirt than I did for my bike!

Actually, it's the second hand factor too. All my clothers ARE. (sigh) Since used bike shorts are darn scarce, with good reason, I'm just plain out of luck.

Hey, how about the dweebs who get all dressed up and then take their bike on transit to get to the park instead of riding there?! Lazy or what?!

How about tandem teams that have matching jerseys, shorts, shoes, socks, helmets, etc? I just about fell off my bike the first time I saw a couple dressed this way on their tandem.

(me peddling away in my t-shirt and cotton shorts...)
