ebay for bike clothing

This summer I bought a Scott CR1SL at Competitve Cyclist and love it; so light and fast.....

Anyway, I found on eBay Scott jerseys and bib shorts from China for about $40!

https://cgi.ebay.com/2010-SCOTT-Team-...c_Apparel&var=

Question? Does this sound to good to be true? Anyone have any experience with buying cycling clothing from China?

Thx

i personally, would never buy anything out of asia (except for japan). because of all the poverty in the region, many people have had to resort to scams in order to live. scamming and copies are a big part of the tourist industry- ie, tourists from the US or Europe would visit somewhere like Vietnam and be told that a statue or some art piece was made out of marble or ivory etc, only to learn down the road that they had bought a 2,000 dollar statue made from cheap laminated wood.

now because of sites like ebay, these same scammers have moved worldwide thanks to the internet.

you gave no clue if those jerseys are authentic or not until they arrive in person. if theyre not authentic and demand a refund, the seller could hide behind a lot of loopholes and not return your money.

I agree with zazenzach in principle, and I'm troubled by exploitation of workers in China, too. On the other hand, though, SOME work is probably better than NO work for those people. I've ordered Chinese stuff on a few occasions (not cycling clothes, but several random items), and I've been pretty happy with it. I'm not sure I'll do it again, mainly because of workers' rights issues, but I haven't had problems so far.

There have been numerous threads about the eBay knock-off kits, general consensus is that you get what you pay for. The "bargain" is that like the price the product is cheap.

Better picking up Performance/Nashbar/etc stuff up on clearance.

Yeah, you can't trust chinese in this one mate, you should go to the store and buy one, funny is in the store the shirt sometime writen that they were made in china or vietnam, but they have past your country classification, it would be more safer, I use to buy shirt from addidas or nike, they have the same fabric (made in china) but they are heaps more quality then the one on ebay, I only buy part that are 100% quality like shimano or campy, they are cheaper and they are quite hard to copy. Try to spend your clothes, fashion in a store. We both like saving moneys, but this is very personal equipment and I don't play with my chance.
