Ok so what's the approximate heal time for saddle sores?
|
I normally do time off the saddle. If it is an open sore I use neosporin and bandages and time off the saddle. Keep everything clean.

Thanks, will do. Hopefully this heals up soon. I want to get back out and ride.

...And you might want to find a more comfortable saddle before getting back out to ride. A saddle that fits you should feel like you can ride a hundred miles without discomfort. And it should never come anywhere close to causing an injury like an open sore.
Looking forward to riding in Dutchess (the HVRT) when the leaves change color in a few weeks! |
I have a Bontrager sport saddle with carbon fibre and hollow titanium rails, it feel like all of my weight is sitting right on the nose of the thing. Is that how its suppossed to be?

A seat needs to have the proper width to support the two bony bumps on the inside of your glutes (one bump on each side). Those two bony bumps are your "sit bones," aka ischial tuberosities of your pelvic bone, where your weight can be supported without causing discomfort. I would suggest you adjust the seat's angle and horizontal position (it can be slid forward or backward on its rails) to see if you can get the "wings" of the seat to support your "sit bones." If you can't find a comfortable position, then you most likely need a different saddle, one with a proper width for your butt. I can sympathize. I had gone through five different saddles before I found a comfortable one (Serfas e-Gel for my particular butt, it fits me so nice I've done centuries on it, without need for padded shorts). Everyone has a slightly different butt, and you need to find one that is comfortable for you. :D |
I ride a recumbent...... what is this 'saddle sore' you speak of? :D
