Deerskin Cycling Gloves

I prefer riding with gloves on most of the time. I recently tried finding deerskin bicycling gloves with no luck but did come up with some reasonably priced deerskin fingerless motorcycling gloves that look like they will do the job. Deerskin claims to be washable and is also supposed to be very abrasion resistant. The washable is an advantage as bicycling causes you to sweat and the salt buildup in glove leather can get downright crusty.

Here is the link to the gloves I found. They have some relatively minor palm padding and have perforated leather backs and ventilated knuckles. Construction of those I received seems to be very good. They claim to be American deerskin sewn in China. I admit they look kind of Michael Jackson style gloves ;-)

For those who prefer full finger gloves here are some ventilated back unlined full finger deerskin gloves. These have no padding and while listed as a motorcycle glove I would describe them more as a driving glove. These are supposedly a clearance item so I have no idea how long they will be available. Again construction on the pair I received seems to be quite good.

For colder weather wear the site also has lined deerskin gloves available too.

Where's the padding?

My cycling gloves are all washable.

Genuine leather palm cycling gloves I have owned have had the leather get stiff and crack after washing. Most washable cycling gloves use synthetic leather which is not nearly as abrasion resistant as properly tanned genuine leather in my experience.

On the fingerless gloves the small amount of padding is in the palm area.
