I just removed some stickers from my bike frame. They were from the store where I bought the bike, telling me to register, telling me to buy a helmet, etc. The bike looks much better, now that it is no longer a rolling billboard. My question is this:

How do I get the sticky stuff off the frame from where the stickers used to be? Obviously not a wire brush. Does anyone have any home remedies that they use?

Rubbing alcohol may do it, if not, there are a variety of sticker remover chemicals available anywhere (grocery store, Walmart, Home Depot, etc). As always, test it in an inconspicuous area first.

Definitely stay away from the wire brush.

Nail polish remover or Goo Gone.

Goo Gone is certainly the best choice. I think the spray-on variety works best, but use whichever you can find.

If you're strapped, you can try engine degreaser, WD-40 or rubbing alcohol.

When WD-40 doesn't cut it, I break out the 3M industrial adhesive remover. If that won't get adhesive/flesh off, nothing will.

Goo Gone or Goof Off. Wear rubber gloves if you use Goof Off or you'll have skin off, too.

One more vote for Goo Gone.

nail polish remover contains acetone, this works. Wipe with water after removal.

Be careful what you use and test for paint compatibility on a hidden area first. I've removed lots of sticker good with good 'ol WD-40.

For future reference you should use a hair dryer when removing stickers so this doesn't happen, now that it is too late though if you have some white masking tape it will remove the excess sticky stuff and it won't stick to the paint.

Oh if you do go out and buy a product, skip the goo gone, ooops and other similar products and just pick up some simply green. Not only will it help remove the residue simply green is great for washing bikes and degreasing etc.

I already have some Simple Green. I might try that first. If that doesn't work, I will go for the nail polish remover. I will come back and report on how things go.
