I have been road biking for the last year and 1 month. Going into the seagull century october the 9th(i think)
I'll reach my 3000 mile mark on my odometer. Yeeaaa!!!. The bulk of the mileage comes from riding about maybe once a week doing 20 mile sprints.

Congratulations! That's quite an accomplishment. 3000 miles of sprinting! I hope I'm not missing something, but 20 miles per week turns into 1040 miles per year. Where do you ride? Keep up the good work.

Some weeks I did multiple 20 mile rides, when I said that, I was just looking back and making an assumption of my riding frequency, I didn't actually do the math. I guess it seems like I ride about once every week but I guess there were alot of times when I rode a couple times a week. I have only done 1 century, and and 1 metric century. I also have only done about 4-7 rides over the 20-25 mile mark. I ride a route around where I live in Easton maryland. When I was in Salisbury (going to SU) I rode the cooper looper alot.

Sorry but I love math almost as much as cycling. 3000 miles is a lot for one year. I know because my total so far this year is 2600. I replace my chain about every 4000 miles. How about you? The cooper looper sounds interesting - what is it?

Yup, 3000 miles it is. Cooper looper, Its a 20 mile course that goes through back country paved roads, lots of turns, pretty much flat and windy most of the time.

I haven't replaced my chain yet.

if you ride 20 miles every time you ride, then you have averaged 2.67 rides per week.

3000 is a great accomplishment. my 4400 miles and counting is a direct result of hitting 3000 miles a few years ago and finding more efficient uses for my time. so when you post you new high of 5000 miles in a few years, you'll remember your posting.

Congradulations on your accomplishment. I will recomend that you attach a bicycle computer to your race machine for stats...exact distance and speed, you want to know if you are sprinting faster or slower than you previous sprints.
