Where do I find the specs for a 2001...

Specialized Sirrus? The LBS said that he could get his hands on a 2001 Sirrus for me for $450. I just want to take a look at the specs but can't find it anywhere on the web. Can someone help me? Is there a secret/hidden website you guys know of?

BTW, is $450 a good price for the Sirrus (base.....i think...he says it's a blue color bike w/blue rims).

Thanks.

Hi Cadd.

Specialized lists four Sirrus models w/pics, specs, etc. for *this* year (dunno if there were any major changes from last year's models) here:

I got a 2001 Sirrus Pro for $750 & a 2001 Sirrus Elite for $600 (for my wife). There are several models (4, I believe) so you need to know which you are looking at. If it's the base model, you should just get a new one (2002).

Thx for the link....I checked their website already but couldn't find any info on 2001 bikes. I know the Sirrus line has changed between '01 & '02. Thx again

adaze, thx for the links...unfortunately I checked those before I posted this topic up. I saw the reviews.....but is there anyway to find the specs for the bike? I want to know the components.

I thought there were only 3 models last year. My LBS tells me that last year's base model is much better than this year's base model. He also said last year's base model (msrp $799) is comparable to this year's Sport model. This is the reason I want to take a look at the specs to see if his statements are legitimate.

If this year's base model is for $500 and last year's is for $450 (which, according to him has better components......it would be a no brainer).

I think last year had the base Sirrus, Sport, Elite & Pro. This year is the same except the Elite is called the Comp (I believe). I don't have the specs either so I'm not positive of the changes on the base model. The base model still has 24 gears where the Pro & Elite (Comp) have 27. You may run out of pedal in top gear. It also doesn't come with clipless pedals so you may just want to get one of the other models if you go clipless.

Tell your shop to order last year's bike. When it comes in, compare the components to this year's. If they are not the same, tell him to make it the same before you throw down $450, since he said they had the same components.
Specialized recently updated their site so I don't think you can find last year's iinfo anymore.
If it was retailing for $800 and you can get it for $450, it sounds like a good deal to me! You can use that $50 for your fatter tires or a new rear derailleur, lock, helmet...you know what i'm saying.

Good luck!

Just want to inform everyone that I got my bike today! Read more about it here:

But I'm still in the search for 2001 specs for the Sirrus. So if anyone happens to run across them.....please please let me know. Again, thanks for all the help!
