Main Bike Brands/Companies/Manufacturers
I am performing initial market research for an idea for a reflective bicycle accessory.
Would you happen to know who in the US or Canada might be able to point me towards the right bike accessory companies, product managers, and sales people that might be interested in it? I am a total amateur with little experience in the field and would like to learn the ABCs of design, building a prototype, patenting, etc. for the bicycle industry. I.e.
I'm looking for early stage feedback.
So far, my Google, patent, and retail searches have not turned up anything similar to the idea I'm looking into. (I don't even know if that's good news or not!)
Thanks!

Patent attorneys use patent researchers to help them narrow down what's out there. You may hire them to do searches. That will cost less, but you may have difficulty doing the interpretation of their findings yourself.
What you don't want to do is to spend a lot of time, effort, commitments, and money on something, a process, or a material, that has been patented already. There are different functions of patent law. Some patent attorneys are like ambulance chasers. They seek out products out there that are in violation of existing rights.
