Whats wrong with this picture

This months (November) edition of Bicycling on page 86.

What is wrong with this picture?

Ok I know it's nit picky but let's see who else notices this demonstration of how not to ride.

Is it her chain? It's crossed. She's on the big chainring, but the largest cog. I never would have noticed unless you had asked, "What's wrong with this picture". Is that it, or is there something else?

Hi Tom you got it. I looked at this picture and it just screamed at me. She is riding with her chain crossed. I was going to try and scan it in but something is not working on this end. Oh well Stop by your local Wal Mart and peruse the magazine Aile for those that don't subscribe. It's nothing major but surely is a goof in a Bicycle magazine if you ask me

For the record, she's not carrying anything to drink either. That's because there are no water bottle cages on the bike! There is no pump visible, and it doesn't look like there's anything (i.e. food, spare tube, CO2) in the jersey pockets. She also has the earpieces of her glasses over the top of her helmet straps. I never do that because your glasses can fall off easily, and you can't take your helmet off without removing your glasses first. Well, it's obviously a photo shoot and not a ride.

One should never run on the 2 largest gears or the two smallest at the same time. The rider in this picture has the chain on the front outermost (big) ring and the rear innermost (big) ring. This is very hard on your equipment. The chain is at a bad angle Hence the name crossed chain as it is crossing clear accross the entire range.

By the gleam on the chain, I suspect a parrafin wax / 40 wt motor oil concoction was used. And the lack of VPL's suggest she's going commando.
