A bicycle built for indoor training

Has anyone put together a bike specifically for spinning? I spin about 100 miles weekly during the winter at a bike shop (Computrainer system with 8 stations) and have decided to build a "spinning bike" just for the system.
I have a Cannondale Scalpel mountain bike, a Pinerrello roadie and a Motobecane touring bike but thought if I had a dedicated "spinner" I wouldn't have to mess with those three at all(switching rear tire to roller tire, etc.).
A friend of mine offered me a steel frame for free....another friend would powdercoat it for free AND I have wheels, carbon crank, bars etc. justing sitting around.
The gears I have are compact front and 9 speed (11-24) Ultegra cassette.
Thanks for any comments! Doyle

Buying your own spinning rig essentially. Pro gym quality stuff.

more of a kludge.. old frame ..
Put a fixie hub track drivetrain, and stick an airless foam tire
on a whatever rim,
the rolling resistance sucks , but you are after a workout anyhow.

save wear and tear on the other bike's drivetrainparts,
they will wear down fast enough without pushing it..

of course so will this.. http://www.lemondfitness.com/product...ond-revolution
it's air resistance, and has the cassette attached to it.

still wear and tear on the chain and chainrings, though..

Have no Idea what Computrainer uses for sensors ,
work backwards from learning what that stuff needs.

Why not? It sounds like you've got the parts. When I used to ride indoor trainers I just kept a cheap trainer tire on the bike all Winter, and switched back to a better tire as Spring arrived.

Thanks for the responses.....just a point of clairification.....the Computrainer system is way more of a commitment than a single roller in the garage. It is a row of serious cyclists with a screen that displays current speed, avg speed, watts, watts/kgs of weight, heartrate, % of current incline or decline and your own icon that travels across a 20-40 mile course with 7 other cyclists. You can draft, all the psychology of high performance street riding is there in spades. It has changed the way I ride and what a way to hit the Springtime already in top shape!
I guess my mistake was to think this system was more in use than it really is. It's not "spinning at the local spa", it's a whole different level of "virtual cycling" and I strongly recommend seeing if there is a bike shop in your area that has the system! Also ask about the system that has the pedal stroke analyzer....another amazing way of improving your abilities! Doyle

so did you actually build the bike or is this a hypothetical??

Right now my touring rig has a second rear wheel group (10 spd Ultegra) with a roller tire that I leave on it the entire Winter....I leave the whole bike @ the shop as well. My thought is to build a dedicated "roller bike" thereby freeing up my touring rig for those rare dry winter 40plus mile days....with no wheel swapping required before the ride. The overall weight of a roller bike isn't at issue, just the stiffness and pedaling efficiency since we do "compete" on the Computrainer. Kind of a special purpose build.

could be a OPC Schwinn Varsity with a BMX ashtabula to 3 piece crank
BB converter then ?

Though peer pressure may dictate an upscale brand name..

Wow, great job at being unable to contribute to the conversation, but at least this thread allowed you to jack it into absurdity.

Its on a stationary trainer is it not theyre a rigid solid steel frame. post apocalypse surviving durable. ...:crash:

Brand names are irrevelant....because I mentioned what I ride on the street you assume I'm some sort of a superficial namedropper? I think your analysis of my intentions is really misinterpreted and you use my thread to voice your judgement. You don't know me and you are taking past experiences with others and stereotyping me into some sort of a group of people that use their brand names for credibility....you are dead wrong. My intentions are clear, I want to build a roller bike with higher end components because I am committed to this sport and "race" with many other off season serious cyclists on the Computrainer systems. Hoping I find some others who do this training, I began this topic. You, sir, seem to be the accusing speedbump here. We are so brave and opinionated on the computer, and know so much about others.
