Hi,
I have been happy with my Planet Bike for years. Next year it's time
to kick the training up a notch. So I am thinking about getting one of those ubercomputers. I have a HRM, if I ever replace the batteries so it will work.
But I might consider it in a speedo just for the gee whiz factor. What got me started was the Cateye OS1. It will track your progress and produce weekly and monthly charts right there on the bike. That sounds cool. But the top of the line
Specialized keeps track of how much climbing you do; and that is something I plan on doing a lot of next year. Then there's the HAC4, I don't know a thing about it, but it's awesomely expensive and I understand even some pros use it. The PowerTap is just too much money. I might go for the HAC4, but even that's more than I want to spend. I guess what I need is a computer that monitors my heart, tracks my climbing, produces charts on my watt output, and makes a good cappucino

Thanks,
after I posted, it occurred to me to do a search of the archives for HAC4. Learned a lot. Not sure if that is absurd overkill for me or not. Ran into some minor problems with overtraining this summer; and next year is the year I want to use to get ready for the big stuff, like centuries. There was one post where the guy said he had a box full of great gadgets mocking him. My Polar is like that, It is an older model, an Accurex. I find it to be a pain in the butt to use. But then, while I love gadgets, I'm too old and lazy to use many of them. I have heard good things about the Reebok HRMs. Maybe I should try one of them.
