After 2 years, the pads on my Giro helmet were starting to come apart. I checked several local bike shops, but no one had spare pads. :mad: Finally I called an 800 number for Giro, and a nice woman there said she would send me new pads at no charge. That was barely a week ago. I received the new pads in today's mail. Thank You, Giro!

Cool. Good to know there are companies that will actually help out their customers nowadays. Most of the time people get screwed.

I had the same experience with Smith. I bought a pair of Smith Bazooka Sliders many years ago. I loved them so much that when I lost my beloved yellow ones, I purchased a pair of black ones from Nashbar. I lost the rubber ear gripper things and an email to Smith and I had about 4 pairs of them in the mail a week later at no charge. Nothing big in terms of cost but it was a gesture that has me eyeing Smith products in the future.

I'll see your Giro and Smith and raise you a pair of eggbeaters!

I've been commuting on a pair of chromoly egg beater pedals for over two years now. I stood up to hammer up a hill the other day and suddenly something wasn't going 'round so good. Fortunately I was almost home. Once I walked there I took the drive side pedal apart to find that the chromoly spindle cracked and bent.

Crank Bro's had been super about sending me 4 dust caps gratis when I lost one, so I gave them a call. Ten minutes and 25 bucks later they were arranging to send me a brand new set of their upgraded eggbeaters with stainless steel spindles. All they asked is that I send the old pair back to them so they can have a look at the failure. They even told me to wait until the new ones arrive so I can use the packaging for old set.

I'd half expected them to demand a reciept and date of sale and such... that's if they were going to warranty two plus year old pedals at all. As a matter of fact, I didn't even get a chance to launch into my "I'm really not a down-hiller/free-rider maniac..." speech. They were very cool. And saved me about a hundred clams I don't have at the moment. Props to the Crank Bro's!
