Light System?
I want a BRIGHT light that I can ride at night with....I also want it to be rechargable. I am not one for weak power. I carry surefire lights with me that produce 120 lumens just as a general flashlight, so I want something that's going to produce some light and has at minimal 4 hours or so of run time.

That would be overkill, I want something with 120-200 lumens and under 300 bucks preferably. |
Look at the geek lighting thread?
|
Before you go crazy, just how often are you going to do a 4+ hour ride at night?
And how fast are you planning to go? When you first start cycling, 2 hours at around 10-15 mph is what usually happens. Any 10 watt halogen would do. |
Actually 90% of my riding will be after sunset due to my work schedule and my lifestyle...I figure why spend 30 or 50 bucks on an OK one when I can just get a good one not have to worry about it? Anyways...That's about it. As far as 4 hour life, if I don't charge it one night I don't want it to be totally dead the next time I go out ;) Same thing as with my iPod and Laptop. anything that runs on battery I want to have extra life.

|
that'd atleast make me feel good. My poor bike though :(
|
Remember payback is a b**** He hit you therefore his car being totaled is payback enough - unless you want to beat some ricer butt
|
Yeah... wonder if insurance companies will insure bikes against such things? They offer car insurance.. and a bike is transportation.

I dislike cheapness...I like getting something that will attempt to last. I could go through the list of things people's jaws basically drop or the fact that I would into work wearing around 1200 dollars...yeah some people say it's asinine, but at the same time everyone has their little deals...oh and that's not 1200 dollars in jewelry...well a 100 dollar watch...that's about it. As far as a 300 dollar lighting system, I want to be able to see where I'm going. I live where it is very dark, no street lights or anything....my neighbors just don't understand that concept for whatever reason. I also didn't want a light I had to replace the batteries in. My surefires cost enough there with the 3v lithium batteries. Anyways...how much have you all dumped into your bike? Oh BTW...I paid $792.63 shipped for my bike. I don't pay full price. Ever :)

Yeah...my point exactly! LoL. That's an insane amount of money some would say. Me though? If it's what you love there is no such thing as a price.

Read this from REI about the 2005 model: # Full power mode puts out a jaw-dropping 675 lumens of clean, daylight balanced light with 5 hours of run time # Low power mode offers 6 hours at a still incredible 550 lumens of even light output Get em. What, $600 is NOTHING, in the grand scheme of your life....am I wrong? :D |
