Midge bar still available anywhere?

Hey all.......

I've been trying off and on for months now to locate some midge handlebars. My LBS I usually go to can't get them...... or anything from on-one, for that matter. I've been searching the web, but either the item is discontinued or out of stock in the size I need. Oh, and I've tried ebay. They seem to go quicker than hotcakes.

Just out of reach....tisk, tisk

Anyone know where these things are being had anymore? It's not lust, really. I NEED them!!!! :twitchy:

BTW, I suppose if these suckers are just too difficult to get my hands, the Origin 8 Gary looks like a good alt. option, but I'm not decided, yet. Just in case someone suggests it.......you understand.

From their UK store, they will KILL you on shipping.

Yes, I'd seen that. Why are they so hard to get in the U.S.? Or, atleast, seem to be.........

I've looked at the all the other dirt drop/cyclo style bars I could find on google, read reviews/opinions/etc., and I just like the midge. Hmph, what to do? That Gary bar looks alright, I guess. Not as much flat, though. It is cheaper....hehe.

Got mine here ages ago and still available...http://mtb.unrealcycles.com/catalog/item466.htm

I'd seen that, too. Thanks. Only they're sold out of the size I'd need for my stem. Maybe they'll restock soon.

Again.....thanks.:)

I think I'll just call them tomorrow and see when they might have more in stock. Golly.......maybe they can get the smaller clamp bars in black.

Hey wait...........I just read somewhere Soma makes a dirt drop? I'm going to have to look into that. I think my LBS can get their stuff........ooooo.

WTB makes a dirt drop, Origin8 makes a midge near-clone (slightly longer bar where the midge is a bit short at the drop) in both 25.4 and 31.8 mm size, Ragley also has updated the midge and has the 'Luxy' model drop bar (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/M...?ModelID=54259).. The designer of the on-one midge is the same guy that designs the ragley products. Salsa has the well regarded 'woodchipper'...plenty of options out there to take a look at.

On-One is a British company. But,, they do have a warehouse in the US.

dunno but CRC and others have served me well for the past few years in getting on-one and ragley gear for splendid prices. order and get product in hand within a week or so..

Hey!.....thanks for the replies, guys.

I've seen WTB's....and, those are actually what inspired my want for dirt drops! It seems the design has changed from the original, though. Now the WTB has the ergo shape to the drops. Unless I'm mistaken, that's all that's available now??? I looked for the original shape on google, but couldn't find any available at a retailer. I only found images on folks cycles and articles about them..

Origin 8 is the Gary bar I mentioned ealier. That I considered as an alt option if I just couldn't get a midge, but still.....the flat on that bar isn't very wide. Ungh.....kinda want that for the terrain around my home....;). Plus, I'd like to run some interrupters, at some point.

I just read about Ragley! Never saw that name before until I stumbled on some mtbr forum. I've yet to fully explore that, but I will.

I know lots of folks like Salsa's bars, but meh........I don't....hehe. They just look "odd" to me.

Oh yeah, I know..... On-One is British, but Campy is Italian and they're all over the place. Just a little point of comparison there. From what I was reading, it's seems that On-One is a small company while someone like Campy has been around for eons and much bigger. Maybe that's why? Whatever. But, if On-One has a warehouse, seems they'd be more widely available. Atleast, I'd think so. I mentioned the LBS I normally visit.....who couldn't get OnOne products.....well, neither can the other shop just a few miles from them! Some kinda retailers, demographic black hole, I guess.:notamused:

I'll check out CRC, but like I said, I read about Soma. Don't know why on Earth I didn't think about them before......<<<ding, ding>>>, but apparently they're making products quite identical to On-One's. I called my ususal LBS today and asked him if he could get the Junebug bars. I'll find out something in the next couple days. He thinks he can, but he'll make for sure and get me a price. If he can...haha....I don't care what the handlebar says, I just like the shape. Plus, I wouldn't have to pay shipping....obviously. ;)

So, I'll look into those other suggestions, though. Thanks a bunch. I'll let you know what happens, if you're interested. Ciao!

Oh wow......I just checked CRC link. Nice!!.......thanks, but a little more than I wanted to spend. Hmph.....
