kids bike storage help

I recently took the training wheels off of my kids bike to teach them to ride w/o them. Now my problem is…….how do I store them so they won’t be leaning on my bike, etc? I store the bikes on a 10’x10’ Arrow metal shed, so there is not a lot of vertical distance along the sides. These are 16” wm special bikes, with no way to mount a kickstand unless they make one that clamps on. I need a storage solution where my kids (5 goin on 6) can get the bikes themselves w/o my assistance. Something that can be moved around because I’m constantly finding better ways to organize the shed.

As I’m writing this, a storm is brewing in my head where I could simply take some 2x4’s or what not and make a “bike rack”. Does anyone have an plans/pics of something like this? I wonder if I could use PVC for the uprights to reduce weight but keep the “base” something more solid like wood to keep it upright.

That's what I was going to suggest before I got to your last paragraph.

Go back to WalMart.. you'll find an adjustable kickstand that clamps on. We have one on our daughters 16" bike. I think I had to cut it a bit shorter, but it worked.

Bikeshops have clamp on versions too. They cut to length. Not sure if they'll fit or not, but they're around $10 IIRC, and the'll follow the bike if you want to move it :)
