Too much, just about right, or something else?

I'm trying to get the biking bug to bite my wife and daughter like it has me and my son.

I have an opportunity to buy a 2008 Specialized Myka Elite from a one-owner ... she says it has only been ridden a handful of times and the bike looks like it ... it's cherry. My research shows that this bike sold for about $700 new ... they don't make this exact model anymore but the closest thing to it sells for $940 in the 2011 version.

She wants $400 ... I don't know much about used bike prices ... is this a fair price? Offer less? Better off doing something else?

Thanks in advance for your help.

$400 seems in the zone of reasonableness to me. And as you notice, bike and part prices have gone badly up in the past few years.

I'd say that price sounds fair. How's the size going to fit your wife or daughter?
