which brand to buy?
 

I'm shopping for a mountain bike.
I've been to several stores & rode several bikes. I'm not sure which is the better buy. I want a good quality bike for dirt trails.
Which of these do you recommend? They all had about $100 difference in price. $400, $500, & $600.

Trek Sky SL
Cannondale CAAD

Welcome to BF. The one that has the best geometry to suit your frame. This can be accomplished through a test ride of each and hopefully a knowledgeable sales person. Best of luck. The Cannondale Trail Women's 6 has the components that I would favor the most.

Ann, All three of those brands are well respected. The only one I have any personal experiance with is the Trek Skye my sister purchased. It's a great bike, but the bottle bracket is in a cramped area, the Specialized is better on that point.

I realize I'm a little late but my advice is to shop for a bike shop first. There's more significant differences among bike shops than there is among bike grands. When you need service, when you need accessories or clothing, if you ever have a warranty issue - who do you want to deal with?

Ann, You should know that new bikes require a picture, right? :)
