I love meeting new people and networking so I joined this site. I also felt like you all could give me some good advice/opinions from your experiences.

I am curious, need an opinion on something real quick

Hey, my name is John. I'm a 20 year old man who is a rising junior, Industrial Engineer at University of Massachusetts, Amherst (GO U). I work part-time as a Teacher's Assistant for Calculus and joined Shotokan karate for fun. In order to enter into an Innovation Challenge (80K for the finalist teams), and just so I could dig deeper into the many users of locomotive bicycles, I figured I could ask everyone at a bikers forum.

hey everyone, as far as bicycle seat preferences would you please pick 3 factors you care MOST about when advocating a bike seat

Just curious what others care about when considering thousands of different bike saddles

again, I am curious what others feel matters with their bike saddles/seats. Is it the comfort, lightness, and control?
Or another example...are your highest priorities: cost, aesthetics, and aerodynamic shape. What are your top 3?

Bicycle Seats are called Saddles.

Go luck on your company.

Howdy and welcome to the forums.

My wisdom:
1) It's all been done before. So if you come up with something new, it probably isn't.
2) 95% of the new ideas for improving bicyles come from people that don't really ride bicycles anyway, so they are solutions without problems.
3) The best bicycle seats are not noseless, wide, or cushy.

Just FYI, I don't recall ever seeing a post that says "Help me find a more aerodynamic seat!" or "What's the lightest seat?", etc. But there's no end of "What's a comfortable seat?" posts. It's not necessarily a female/male issue, and there's no concensus on what is or isn't comfortable. People would use tractor seats if they were comfortable to ride a bike on. Perhaps being familiar with the subject matter prior to deciding to start a business in that area would be appropriate.

Something has been lost in translation. Not sure what "baby bike seats" means. I look for a seat (saddle) that doesn't kill my butt.

Considering her (?) user name is the name of a seat brand, I am thinking that she/he wants to sell a saddle....

In my opinion, bicycling has the highest percentage of folks trying re-invent the proverbial wheel. Bicycle saddles suffer the most from the syndrome.

Sweetseat, why don't you come up with a superior female-specific design on your own based on your years & miles as a cyclist?

You are correct that most bikes have saddles; but saddles are not seats (and vice-versa.) My bikes have seats.

Yes ... someone is using Google translator or some other similar translator. This person is typing in how they would say it in their own language, and then copying and pasting the translation without double checking that it is correct.

Those translation programs can be good, but they are rarely really accurate. I've tried them with English into French, and I know enough French to have a bit of a chuckle when I read the translation, and it can take quite a bit of adjustment to the English to get the French translation sort of correct.

you mad? I only asked a question, no need to take anything personal. I actually take it as: you all are personal about this... so I will get personal too:

hey, My name is John. I'm a 20 year old man who is a rising Junior, Industrial Engineer at University of Massachusetts, Amherst (GO U). I work part-time as a Teacher's Assistant for Calculus I and joined Shotokan karate for fun. In order to enter into a Innovation Challenge hosted by Isenberg's College of Management also for fun (80K for the finalist team; wish me luck), and just so I could dig deeper into the users, I figured I could ask fellas at a bikers forum. So what? If I am not a 100 mile/ week guy? I very well could be in 6 months time once I commute to classes from my new Off Campus apartment next semester (one of my 3 other room mates is my ex lol i must be stupid). Anyways! About commuting..

How I earned interest.... I heard about the health diseases, like impotence and urinary tract infections, connections to horned bike saddles . . . so when I was considering commuting 12 miles a day to go to an Engineering internship at BerryPlastics, I stumbled upon thousands of different bike saddles... What struck me as odd is, how none could be universally well designed; like for instance how door push plates are made in public areas. without causing health diseases that is, or the sensation of slipping off
