Bikes comparable to a Giant Sedona

Hi everyone,

I'm interested in getting a bike and tried out a Giant Sedona today. It seemed to fit my needs fairly well. I liked the upright sitting position. I don't plan to ride far, up to 8 mile leisurely rides only. I went with Giant since that's what I had as a kid. Also tried a Giant Dash but didn't like the thin tires.

The price of the Giant Sedona was around $350. Now I'm seeing some other "comfort" bikes for cheaper.

e.g. 2010 Fuji Crosstown 4.0 Comfort Bike for $200.

Are these bikes comparable in features/quality? I see that the Fuji Crosstown 4.0 has no front derailer. So no front gear switching. Otherwise, seems about the same.

If not, any suggestions for similar bikes from other brands?

Thanks,

cliffe

You get what you pay for. The Sedona is a well proven bike for its use and is a popular bike.

Now also considering the 2010 Marin Stinson for $280. After including taxes, the two will be about $90 different.

The Marin Stinson seems to have similar features. Any comments on that ? Quality of Marins?

Thanks

I got a Giant Sedona from Craigslist before I really knew anything about bikes. I was actually really lucky with that buy. I've ridden it through hundreds of miles of commuting, which includes running through muck and water.

Giant is a contract builder for many other brands, has been for a long time.

Update: Bought the Giant Cypress and also the Giant Escape 2 (for two people). Took them on a 9 mile ride. Wasn't used to feeling every little bump on the Escape. Enjoyed the ride on the Cypress more.
