Cyclist Death in Phoenix, AZ

I'm sad to say that I never paid much attention to news of auto accidents and deaths involving cyclists until is literally happened down the street from me.

There's a road called Pecos Rd in Ahwatukee, a suburb of Phoenix, AZ. It's about 10 miles long with a nice, wide shoulder.

Last week, a cyclist got "rear ended" by an 18yo kid in a pickup. The cyclist was 68.

Now, I'm not assuming the driver is guilty, but I've had water bottles thrown at me, and been buzzed by cars full of teenagers on that road. So forgive me if I don't believe the accidentally-rear-ended story.

What if the kid was messing around with the cyclist? What if he freaked him out, the cyclist brakes real hard, then the truck rear ends him???

The picture in the paper shows the body of the cyclist (covered in a white sheet) stuck in the windshield of the driver.

Be safe out there!!!

Then I will. I simply can't see a 68 year old weaving in and out of traffic causing problems. However, I can quite easily see an 18 year old guy being an inattentive/inconsiderate *******.
