A first.. opinions

Went for a ride tonight with the boy in the trailer. Stopped by the park on the way back so he could play a bit. We were about to go and I notice 3 boys, 12-13 I think, look at my bike and start to leave but talk a bit in spanish, which I don't, and come back. One starts talking to me small talk mostly the other 2 hang back. Due to my job I'm a little over observant so I'd be watching them for a while so the bells are going off. I decide to leave since it was supper time. They proceed to follow us a block and I'm watching them closely. At that time I decide that's enough so I stop get off the bike have a short staring contest with the leader at which point he turns back. It was another mile home I'm certain they didn't follow.

I'm more worried about the boy than anything or it would of went differently. Let's just say my job involves restraining kids if need be.. what they had on them is another thing. I'm pretty sure they were up to no good but could of been boys being boys. This is a park we go to on occasion so this could happen again. Opinions.. I could be worrying about it to much

I go with my instincts on things like that. If you felt that strongly they were up to no good, they probably were.

Be safe, both physically and legally.

I drive a school bus. 12 and 13 year old boys are the worst for causing mischief. The older boys will do worse stuff but not nearly as often. In a situation like yours I'd have conversed back with the boy who tried to make small talk with you. If you try to ignore them they'll think that you're afraid of them.

I'm a big fat long haired bearded scary looking guy. They go elsewhere for fun.

If they just look like they're up to no good just leave. Until you have to don't engage them at all. Only the most heartless will involve a child in their criminal activities and that is probably why yours was a non happening.

Your job is restraining kids? You are an expert but you're asking strangers on the internet for advice? Sounds like you are very uncomfortable around children--possibly even dislike them--based only on this post. You are almost certainly over-reacting. What a sad post!

There's no such thing as a expert in restraining. You could be knowledgeable in the act but everyone is different and mistakes can be costly. Over-reacting maybe but their are gangs around and my son around.. think I'll go up the other park for a while. I did converse with the boy you could tell he was nervous nilly.
