How fast can you sprint -- A question for the racers/sprinters?
I'm no racer, I only ride for commuting purpose, but I've been doing it for over 20 years; though I've done a few long-distance bike trips. So I'm pretty good at it, but never really tried to see what I can do via a "test".
However, usually at the end of my rides lately I've been doing a sprint as fast as I can and I can hit anywhere between 30 - 35 mph. Never tried it on fresh legs, but now I'm a little curious. What's a good sprinting speed good for a 46 y/o male that weighs 225?

Well I'm 23, 5'8", 150 lbs, a scrawny weakling, and can top out at 39 mph on relatively flat stretch of road with a 10 mph tail wind gusts

That's fast. BTW, I should have mentioned that my gear ratio is 52/11, here's my bike, but of course I don't do it when it's fully loaded.

I've been laser-timed through a speed gate at 39, no assist (flat and no wind.) I now have two bikes that are faster than the one I used for that, but I've never tried the same thing with them.
