Cabbage leaves under helmet keep you cool

Just seen this post on Going Going Bike on Facebook

Apparently a cabbage leaf under your helmet is a good way to stay cool in this hot weather!

It doesn't state where they got that info from tho, shame.

I was wondering if I should post this in the Nutrition section

Some people recommend them for controlling engorgement during breastfeeding! I remember peeling and freezing leaves when my wife was nursing our first child ...

I don't know about cabbage leaves but aluminum foil under your helmet will definitely make it harder for Homeland Security to track you.

I heard the cabbage leaf went back to the six-day racer era. Probably pre-leather hairnet era too. Chris

I knew there was a reason I had for avoiding Facebook.

Of course FB is probably more credible than Bicycling...

I've heard this as well. They would soak it in water overnight. I'm sure they wore it under their "leather hair nets".

OLD MODEL:
Her: Sweetie - I`m really really hot!
Me: OK So how about we stop at the next depanneur and pick up a tub of Haden Daiz ice-cream and look for a nice shady park to relax and split it in?
Her: YUMMY!!

NEW MODEL:
Her: Sweetie - I`m really really hot!!
Me: OK How about we stop at the next merket and I`ll buy a cabbage and stuff some under your helmet?
Her: (Frosty glare) Just try it and you`ll be sleepin` by yourself tonight kiddo!

OK - think I`ll stick with the old model ......

My grandparents suggested cabbage under my hat in golf when I was younger to stay cool(er), don't see why it wouldn't work for cycling.

Damp cloth should do, but heck the cabbage leaf is already roundish.
