Is this the first ever bikeforums international meeting

Cabledonut and myself have arranged to go for a ride together this Sunday. I know people on this board have got together and gone for rides in the past, but have any members from different countries done this?

Chris , could you get CD's tel# where he is staying and maybe Pm it to me (if he dose'nt mind)...and I'll try to call him to say g'day ??

Rich 04-12-02 05:19 AM

It something I'd really like to do....I keep meaning to get together with Richard D (hehe, if that's ok? :)) and hopefully I'll be moving to the same area as he is currently living.

Sad to see CD leave the UK, but good luck in the land of Oz mate!!

I was just wondering today if he'd arrived yet. Is he planning on riding the Brissie to the Bay?

Cabledonut, where are you? I thought you were going to be online during your visit.

I'll have a word to him and see what he says. Man, you must have one hell of a phone bill from all these calls!!!

Gee, all these questions ;) . Which weekend is that on anyway? If it's the Labor Day weekend I won't be able to make it. I'm off to the Conondales that weekend.

Allister -- CD is apparently keen to ride the BTTB - whenever it's on. I tell you what, he gets along OK for someone who hasn't done much riding over the last two years. I've just gotta convince him to have a crack at some of the mountains now :D .

Well, anyone on the forums are more than welcome to join up with me during my ride thru the americas. I start in mid june at prudoe bay, Alaska. Follow progress at www.cyclingtheamericas.org

Peace

Dave

Chris, or is that 'Fatal Justice' now, the ride is on June 2nd.

It mustn't have been cold enough for 'em last year, so they've pushed it further into the winter. I only hope we actually get to see the bay this year, not that I mind much since I actually live there. It seemed a bit odd last year to do a ride with 'to the bay' in the title but which is actually to some desolate industrial park, no water in sight.

If it's the same this year I might take a detour out along the Esplanade before heading back to the city.

Sounds like a plan. I wonder who chose last year's route anyway?

cabledonut 04-25-02 04:17 AM

g'day people!

sorry i haven't been on here for a bit. yes allister, i said i would be online whilst i am over here in oz and here i am! i got set up on aol but not sure if it's the best isp. in uk you could pay an isp (such as aol) a monthly fee and not be billed any call charges. but here the isp's don't seem to cover call charges in an all inclusive package. any aussie know of an isp that charges a monthly fee without call charges from the fone company on top of the monthly isp fee?

anyway, yeh. met up with chrisL and went for a ride up tallebudgera (sp?) valley road to the top and back down again. i would get out some more but people keep inviting me to 'barbies' and i don't always feel like going cycling the next day!

as for 'brissie to the bay', not too sure if i'll be around by june 2nd. i am moving from palm beach to brisbane on saturday (27th april) but don't know how long i will be there for. i'm also not sure if i am taking my bike with me from here. i might leave it with the family i am with here in elanora. i can see it being a pain in the arse lugging it about.

and buddy hayden - chrisL said you wated my number so you could call me. i said it was ok, but where's my fone call!? i'm only here until sat morning, when i move i will pm you a new number. i do have a mobile you can ring - if you want it let me know.

thanks,

cabledonut.

Hi Cable,

Good to hear you're enjoying yourself down under...so, is ChrisL really as good uphill as he says he is? :D
