they did that on mythbusters, with running. Built a platform a couple of inches under the surface and jogged right across. I'd be willing to bet this is something to similar to that

Yeah, that's what I think. But that's a wide and deep lake for such a platform.

If not fake ,or photo shopped, where is the wake behind the bike that must be there from forward movement in the water??

Unless you're a pretty fair swimmer, my suggestion would be to try it on fairly shallow water.
Nightshade is right, unless he's doing a really good track stand.

Looks like a bit of fancy photoshop work with a few major missed details.
As pointed out, there is no wake. Even if he was traveling slowly, there would be some sort of dispersing wave at the points of tire contact.
There's an odd white halo around the cyclist.
There's an object under his right foot, which looks a lot like a block that one would use if attempting to take a photo of oneself on a bike upright.
His right hand is tight around the right brake, as if he was trying to stand still with the previously mentioned block.
HOWEVER:
The reflection in the water is fairly convincing and it takes a good deal of effort to make the water appear natural behind spokes.
Perhaps something is carrying him under him?

Good eye. There definitely seems to be something under his right pedal, likely holding him up. The white halo makes me think it's a photoshop job, but unless he's lying, maybe they hauled some sort of platform out into the lake.

I wonder what kind of lube he uses for that type of riding...
I also wonder why people are even trying to disect the authenticity or otherwise of the photo. Really?!?! Too busy looking at the tree and forgetting the whole forest

This article has one additional "photo". He's wearing a different shirt, and the angle is different, but his hands and feet appear to be in the exact same position in both "photos".
I think this is the work of Photoshop.
