Had enough....tale from a drive yesterday..

Yesterday I had an interesting moment...

I was following behind a car that was approaching two bike riders (a guy and a girl). The guy was going kind of fast and pulling away from me and he car buzzed past the two bicycle riders, never moved over for the bikre riders and he laid on the horn. They flipped him off and he slammed on the brakes stopped in the middle of the road! The girl held up her cell phone, the guy went back inside his car and produced his. Then he got back in the car as the riders started to move off and to me it looked like he was going to run them down, but he dove into the curb lane, slammed on the brakes again, got out and rushed the male rider with a big shove!

So I pulled over in front of the lunatics car and got my cell phone and dialed 911 with his plate number and description. As I was talking to 911 he got back in his car and sped off. I started talking with the riders then waited with them for the police.

Both riders just wanted to make a report and did not want to press charges. It is sickening the way some vehicle drivers behave...at least there was no fight and no one was hurt.

That's why flipping lunatics off is never a good idea.

What exactly do you mean by "Had enough"?

You did the right thing by calling 911.

yeah but you don't know if they're a lunatic...people think riders are RUDE because we flip someone off or yell...but it's usually because we're scared sh#tless!
last week these two stupid girls honked at me like that as I was going around a big pothole...now this is on a road DESIGNATED as a shared road but parts of it are really crap. There's even a sign that says, if you're in a hurry take the highway. So they blasted at me then roared past me, of course i yelled and flipped the bird, and of course they did, but i was so mad...i just wanted to kick their stupid car. However, at the red light, I didn't stop next to them...i slowed down and waited for it to turn green. Why bother? But most people on that road are ok...however, in that part of town you get teenage yahoos and you have to watch your @ss.

Had Enough as in I myself am tired of drives blowing by without moving, leaning on their horns, standing on the gas as they are next to you, yelling stupid stuff..you know, a typical day on a bike on the roads.... And when the driver shoved the guy, .....well you read my 1st post.

I've found that getting angry at angry drivers doesn't really help the situation. That said, I've flashed the one-finger salute more times than I'm proud of.

Maybe things are more genteel north of the border, but in the US South, flipping the bird at angry people is a great way to find out whether they are in fact crazy, and whether or not they are carrying a weapon.

Last year in Southern California, a doctor was convicted of driving in front of cyclists and slamming on his brakes, causing them to crash into his car. He had a history of doing this and fortunately several cyclists got his plates and took the time to file police reports. He is going to jail, but I'm betting if the other reports hadn't been filed he would have gotten off easier. You did the right thing in reporting it.
