i have! i did the world naked bike ride in chicago last month. (https://chicagonakedride.org/) it was one of the coolest things i've done this summer, a very fun and liberating experience. we rode about 14 miles around downtown chicago one evening. it seemed like there were at least 1,000 people who took part in the chicago ride, despite the crummy weather. and not everyone is naked, but a good amount of people are. i stayed in my boxers most of the time until we hit the magnificent mile where i decided to bare it all. i mean, how many people can say they've ridden naked down the mag mile? :]

these rides happen every year all over the world. cool stuff. celebrating freedom from oil, and the beauty of people.

OK - I confess. I have actually stripped down all the accessories off a couple bikes and ridden them naked more than a few times. But only on a couple ocassions when short-term performance was a priority. Convenience is usually more important than all out performance.

But me - Naked on a bike? Not a chance! The idea of bare feet on platform pedals studded with screws and sitting on a rock hard saddle without bicycle shorts doesn`t exactly sound like my idea of `fun`.

I thought riding naked meant to ride without an odometer/spedometer and other gadgets.

I would love to ride naked, but haven't had the chance of doing it without getting arrested. I'd either need footwear, or swap out pedals to something without studs.
