Bike rack
I am looking to buy a bike rack. I need one that used a hitch insertion thing. What would everyone recommend? I have been looking around and i was thinking about a Yakima Buckhorn Elite 4-Bike.
Heres a link. http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/pr...uctId=11294297 Thanks |
I have the Thule T-2 (comes in a 4 bike version) and I love it.

I have a Thule Helium 3-bike rack, and I love it. It is one of the more expensive racks, but I like its advanced features. It is made from aluminum and is extremely light-weight. This makes it easy to install/un-install, and carry. It has an integrated lock/stabilizer which comes with the rack--it is not a add-on accessory which one must purchase separately. It has an integrated cable lock for the bikes. One can mount/dismount the bikes on the rack very easily, and they are very secure on the rack.

Yup, another recommendation for Thule. I've got the 4-bike with locking cable. Very stable.

I don't have any experience with hitch racks, other than selling a few years ago, but I am not sure I would buy any rack other than a Thule or Allen.

Knowing I wouldn't use a bike rack a lot, I bought an Allen 530RR from Costco for about $100. I knew if I didn't like it I could return it hassle free. It's actually a pretty decent 4 bike rack with a special bolt that keeps the hitch tightly connected. I only carry one bike and it works fine and doesn't rattle.
There are many better racks out there, I'm sure, but you pay a lot more for them. |

How do you want the rack to support the bikes, by the frame or wheels? I use a Saris Thelma II hitch rack which holds the bikes by wheels rather than the frame. There are others. |
