How much water do you take on a ride?

Yea, I got bottle cages on both sides of my front basket/box. They hold bottles upright. They can hold a cup of coffee, because they're not tilted. I use stainless "canteen" bottles. A third bottle is in the frame, but it won't hold the stainless bottles, I have to use plastic. The plastic is flexible , so it can squeeze under the frame tube (it's a ladies frame bike, with not much room in the triangle)

Sunday night, I took a FOURTH bottle with me. It was a half gallon of water in a milk jug. I carried it in my left rear pannier. I refilled one bottle once, and at the end of the ride , I took my helmet off, and doused my head with cool , refreshing water, Gosh, that felt good.

So it adds up like this:

=1 gallon, 8 ounces

It really felt good when I poured the water over my head, at the end of the ride.

2 bottles unless it is cool out and a short ride. I have numerous locations that I can stop at to pick up more water.

Long tour, or JRA? and where are you going ? sweat a lot drink a lot ,
cool and damp climate you will need less .

Summer long tour on a desert highway bring Gallons. bladder bag in a pannier.

Depending on the weather, I've done everything from no water in 15 miles (winter commute) to one and a half 21 oz. bottles every 15 miles (96 degrees at 8am w/ high humidity and no shade all day. HRM recorded 106 as high temp).

When it's upper 90's like it's been not less that three bottles even if there are refill places along the ride. Two in cages and one on a rack or I wear a hydration pak.

2 bottles, one with gatorade and one with plain water. there are a lot of places I can stop and get refills along the way.

2 water bottles...and I don't pour water over my head.:D

If I did, I'm sure it would feel just as good if I didn't have to carry it first.:p

How long was your ride?

2 bottles every ride. One 20oz and one 24oz.

I carry a Hydrapak slung on back which can hold up to 1/2 gallon of water. As I pedal along, I can sip the contents through a tube without needing to stop. To keep the water cold for a while, I can drop a few ice cubes into the Hydrapak unit before starting out. I use the hydrapak unit for medium to long rides or ones that involve me riding in extra hilly or mountainous country.

I also carry a plastic 32OZ. water bottle in a cage attached to the frame. This is handy on short rides or can be used as a back-up to refill the hydrapak unit. If it's hot out, it's good to dump the contents over your head.

I normally take just one bottle with me for every day use.

Two bottles. BTW nice horn and bell. I've the same bell on my MTB, sounds nice
