Pedal adapters?
 

I'm not sure if pedal adapter is the right terminology for what I'm looking for since googling it hasn't found anything for me. I want something I can maybe snap onto, or over, my clipless pedals so that I can use a regular shoe with them. Does such a thing exist, and if so, whats it called?

They have existed. If any online retailers offer them, they will be listed with pedals or pedal accessories.

besides the ones for speedplays, i havent seen any adaptors that work well.

I'd either go with a double sided pedal or change your pedals when you want to ride in regular shoes.

Swapping pedals is really easy. I have a single speed bike that I change pedal systems on all the time. Just have to remember the non-drive side threads are reversed.

That said there are "campus pedals" that work mainly with Shimano system pedals. Plug that into your google search box.

Any bike shop with a QBP account can get Winwood Decksters, they are plate aluminum
you screw in a spare SPD cleat.

in fact anyone with a hacksaw a piece of plate aluminum or
plywood, I suppose .. can make one,
wood, 2 T nuts, threads chased for 5mm ,
to screw in the flat head cleat bolts will do .
stick a safety piece of tread tape from hardware store , on top.

Although - I own a pair, and I am not impressed at all. I found that they kind of squirm under my feet and don't feel stable. There's also the cost of an extra pair of cleats. Their surface is very not grippy. The flat side of the pedal hangs down when you get off them. I used them once, and have never used them again. That's just my opinion, but that's my opinion.

To be no worse to bike on than the Decksters, and without some of their drawbacks.

Though actually changing to flat pedals definitely was better than all the other options.

There are also the "campus" style pedals that have the clip-in part on one side and a flat pedal on the other side. I don't like them because you then have to look down to clip in and maybe flip the pedal - other people have said they got used to them and didn't have these problems, but I did when I owned them.

I wish they made a power tool for taking pedals on and off...changing them isn't "that" hard but it takes a couple of minutes...

Haven't tried them myself though, as I like the Time ATAC's cleat/pedals and they don't make a version for that.

Great! thanks so much - thats exactly what I'm looking for. As to the poster that said they're not very stable; thats fine as I probably won't use them very often...I mostly ride for fitness and my own fun to beat my times etc which is what the clipless are for but the 1 or 2 times a summer I do some short (10 km) biking with friends/spouse, its extremely slow and constant stops so hopefully the convenience will outweigh any negatives.

Sort of. Those pedals use an MKS style cleat. There doesn't appear to be any clip-in pedals for the "SUPERIOR EXIM" quick release type (yet?).
