Most difficult part of your ride

One day after one of my evening rides on the local MUT, my wife watched as I carried my bike up the 3 flights of stairs to our apartment. Laughing she said, "I'll be that's the hardest part of your ride - carrying your bike back up to the apartment." And thinking about it, she was right.

I'm sure most of us have a "typical" ride we do whether it be a daily commute or trail ride or whatever. So, what is the most difficult part of your "typical" ride?

Getting out the door, on the bike and fifty feet past home. After that, everything glides.

I usually take my bike to meet up with friends, then we ride from that point. The hardest part for me is getting the bike into the backseat of my car

Planning on where to ride, so many choices.

As someone else said already - getting out the door.
The bed has a strong magnet and I ate iron as a kid.

Coming back home in a timely manner.

On a hot day, repacking the bikes back into the truck after the ride. :D

Depending which route Idecide to take there is one with a hill high % slope near the end, just when you legs are toasted by the ride that is almost finish you need to stand up on the bike and makethat last climb a few kilometers from home.

That's me too.

In the OP's example I would find it much harder to carry the bike down 3 flights of stairs to ride than to carry it back up afterward.

Knowing that I have to climb a stinger 2 miles from the house and knowing that I have a 600' climb over 2 miles to get home. Its the trip down that gets me going.

Depends on the day. Today it was trying to make a left turn during morning rush hour traffic.

Getting ready.
Top off the tire pressure. Fill water bottles. Get dressed. Put on sunscreen. Put on socks and shoes. Put on bandana and helmet. Finally out the door. Put on sunglasses and gloves. Walk down the driveway (we live on a hill) to the street. Get on the bike and go. :)

Hehe

This is the hardest part of all.
Especially if you are to put other factors into consideration that would influence your decision.
It gets tougher if there are other minds involved with different opinions.

I'm probably an odd one out but I have been known to wear one of these on occasions...

Ride gets pretty difficult if I'm heavily breathing but will probably save my lungs in the long haul. I also get the craziest looks when I am up along side drivers, even other commuters. I like to give out a thumbs up.

I have to ride uphill to get home because my street is on a slope, not very steep. there are two fairly steep climbs on the way home. It's like going up the Alpe when you're all pooped and hot and sweaty ugh!

Getting out the door is a good one...but since it's been said...
I live in a closed community where I have only two directions along a busy highway to get out.
Either way, it is about 1.6 miles. 90% of my flats occur on this road due to high debri on the shoulders,
and of course, not to mention the speeding 55mph traffic.

The monotony of doing the same stretches of road to get anywhere...over and over and over, ad infinitum.

I do pile the bike into the truck and go somewhere else and ride, but that takes time, an off workday etc.

Anyone else have to deal with the monotony of same stretches of roadway you have to ride to get anywhere good?
Not to complain too much though; I could live in the city in an apartment building two stories up...
